Something About Us

I left my home country in October 2011 to Iowa/USA . After staying in Iowa for one year, I decided to move to Grand Rapids in 2013 and joined the Church of the servants, Grand Rapids in February 2014. In my desire to continue serving the Lord in a holistic development, in August 2014, I was admitted at Calvin College and awarded a bachelor’s degree in Religion in May 2018.
I attended a training with One Mission Society in Indianapolis, USA from March 20-23, 2018. One Mission Society unites, inspires and equips Christians to make disciples of Jesus Christ, multiplying dynamic communities of believers around the world.
I completed the Timothy Leadership Training conducted by Calvin Seminary, Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA and I became a Certified Trainer on June 2018.
I have been using my gifts of serving the Lord at the church of the servants, Grand Rapids, Michigan since 2014, and I appreciate the friendship of church members and the good leadership. I attended a Trauma healing training and I was awarded a Certificate of completion by the Trauma Healing institute and American Bible society in December 2018. Currently I am conducting Trauma healing sessions to Swahili African refugee speakers who attend the church of the servants in Grand Rapids. I have the privilege to serve at the church of the servants as the chairperson of the Leadership team of the Multicultural congregation whose English is not the first language called “Basic English Service”.

Pastor Sepa Nashale

Sepa Nashale

I was born in 1962 and raised in Eastern D.R.Congo in a family that did not know God. My wife’s name is Mawazo Esperance. We have 5 children and grandkids.
At the age of 10, I attended a Roman Catholic elementary school from where I was baptized.
It was in 1985 that I heard the Scripture from Roman 10:9 read “if you confess by mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved “. It was at this time that I would say I came to know the Lord personally and I was baptized by immersion.
I went to a Medical College from 1985 to 1988 and after my training, I worked with health clinics and hospital in Congo . At the hospital, I was always sharing Scriptures with the patients and give them encouragement in the Lord.

I left my home country in 1993 to work with International Rescue Committee (IRC), Doctors without Borders, and Lutheran World Federation with refugees in Kakuma hospital/ Kenya. While in Kenya, I was able to serve as a church Elder at a non – denominational church and grew my desire to serve the Lord in full-time ministry.
I returned in my home city, Uvira, DRC in December 1997 with a desire to serve the Lord and commissioned to plant church in DR Congo. In 1988, I worked with World vision international in refugee repatriation program in Uvira-Fizi, Congo while serving as a minister of the Gospel. In September 2000, I attended a leadership training at Haggai Institute/ Singapore. With God’s timing, I planted a non-denominational local church in the year 2005 at Uvira and Kaboke II, Fizi in 2007. So far I have planted 2 local churches and two elementary schools in Uvira and Kaboke/Fizi. Both churches are built in durable materials, but the schools are built in mad bricks. I attended a Bible college and obtained my associate degree in Bible studies in 2009 in Uvira, DR Congo. I also do praise the Lord because when I planted the first church, my parents who were non-Christian believers got saved in 2006. I am blessed to serve the Lord with my entire family. My wife was mainly involved in women ministry as women leader and my kids grew up and were active in worship and praise team in the church.

Mission statement

Our church should demonstrate the tangible love of Christ in our communities and Care for the “least of these” (children, the poor, the imprisoned, the physically and mentally ill, the oppressed, etc.).
The Calvary Church of the DR Congo is a non-denominational church that has a strategic plan to promote the Education, equip believers for the Christian ministry for the growth of the kingdom of God.
Calvary church DRC extends an open Communion table, meaning the invitation to receive Communion during a service is open to any follower of Christ, regardless of church membership. People who have accepted His forgiveness and surrendered their lives to Him are invited to share the Communion table at Dream City Church.

Love of the world

We believe that God cares about every need of every person and that the church, as Christ’s body, is to show his love and care for every person. Every member of the church is called to be a minister of the gospel through acts of loving service and a willingness to share the truth of the gospel with everyone.

Calvary church DRC progressively lives out its mission to reveal Christ to the world by loving people, cultivating community, and inspiring hope. Some of the ways we demonstrate God’s love is through outreach. We preach and help prisoners, widows, community development, and support orphan education (John 13:34-35, 1 Peter 3:15; 4:8). We believe that God wants to transform, heal, and provide for us, so that we can live blessed and victorious lives that will impact and help others.

We celebrate

The church exists to carry on the ministry of Jesus Christ and further advance His kingdom by undoing the works of the enemy, preaching and living the good news of God’s love, and discipling the nations – baptizing and teaching them to love and obey God.

Church building under construction

The Calvary church of DRC is having a great progress. The church was built in 2009 with durable materials . Due to the increase of members, we decided to start this building enlargement since 2015. We thank each and everyone for any provided support, we have been able to increase our Kiyaya/Uvira local church building. Glory to God.

I also do praise the Lord because when I planted the first church, my parents who were non-Christian believers got saved in 2006. I am blessed to serve the Lord with my entire family. My wife was mainly involved in women ministry as women leader and my kids grew up and were active in worship and praise team in the church.
I left my home country in October 2011 to Iowa/USA . After staying in Iowa for one year, I decided to move to Grand Rapids in 2013 and joined the Church of the servants, Grand Rapids in February 2014.

Kaboke II church

We had to plant this church because we wanted to be true to the biblical mandate according to the Great Commission( Matthew 28:18-20). This church planted at Kaboke II village in 2007 was able to reach the non reached community. It is a great privilege to bear witness to Jesus Christ and spread His teachings
The church was able to meet the spiritual and education needs of the community reason why an elementary school was planted later in 2017 ( See image of the mad brisks building with students wearing uniform white/blue standing in lines )
